Big Idea: God orchestrates personal, life-changing encounters — even in the
most unexpected places — and invites us to participate.
1. God’s Directions Don’t Always Make Sense to us. But
They’re Always on Mission
Acts 8:26
26Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Go south to the road—the
desert road—that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.”
God is not just the Lord of the harvest — He is the Shepherd of the one.
2. God Prepares People Before You Arrive
Acts 8:28–30
“This man had gone to Jerusalem to worship… and on his way home was sitting in his
chariot reading the book of Isaiah the prophet.”
2This is the passage of Scripture the eunuch was reading:
“He was led like a sheep to the slaughter,
and as a lamb before its shearer is silent,
so he did not open his mouth.
33In his humiliation he was deprived of justice.
Who can speak of his descendants?
For his life was taken from the earth.”
Philip asks the man “Do you understand what you are reading?”
And he replies “How can I, unless someone explains it to me?”
God prepares hearts long before we show up. He just needs people willing to go.
You don’t have to create the opportunity — just respond when it comes.
3. God Uses Ordinary People to Speak an Extraordinary
Message
Acts 8:35–36
“Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about
Jesus.”
● “Who do you say I am?” (Mark 8:29)
● “Do you want to get well?” (John 5:6)
● “Why are you so afraid?” (Mark 4:40)
Evangelism is an invitation
● Who Jesus is.
● What He’s done.
● How He changed your life.
God Sends the Gospel to the Ends of the Earth, One
Person at a Time
Acts 8:39
When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took
Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way
rejoicing.
Acts 1:8 — “You will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the
earth.”
God is keeping His promise. One step at a time. One soul at a time.
God is not just looking for your comfort — He’s looking for your yes.
